What is Natural Selection?

Natural Selection can be summarized in one short sentence:

Survival of the Fittest.

Natural Selection is the process of changes in an organism to survive. Every population has organisms that vary in features. Sometimes these variances help the organism survive.

When the organism passes on their genes to their offspring, they too have that trait. Then the species that dont have the specific trait that helps the organism to survive cant compete against the adapted organism causing them to die off.

This causes changes in the population as more and more of the population gains the adaptation from their parents that survived.

This process is known as Adaptive Radiation and is the backbone of the entire concept of evolution.
